FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Senator Pileggi Encourages Residents to Visit Historic State Capitol BuildingSenate Majority Leader Dominic Pileggi (R-9) reminded all area residents that visiting the Commonwealth's historic Capitol building in Harrisburg is a great way to learn more about Pennsylvania. "Many historians consider the Pennsylvania Capitol Building to be the most beautiful in the nation," Sen. Pileggi said. "It is a magnificent part of our state's history." Guided tours of the Capitol are offered free of charge and typically last 30 minutes. Tours begin every half hour, Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.; on weekends, tours are offered at 9 a.m., 11 a.m., 1 p.m., and 3 p.m. While in Harrisburg, visitors can also visit the hands-on Welcome Center located in the Capitol's East Wing, where they can read, listen, and interact with 18 colorful and informative exhibits. The Welcome Center is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tour reservations can be made by calling the tour office toll-free, 1-800-868-7672.
