Senator Pileggi Introduces Legislation to
Make Political Robo-Calls Illegal

HARRISBURG – Senate Majority Leader Dominic Pileggi (R-9) announced today that he has introduced legislation to make political robo-calls illegal.

"Automated phone calls are always a nuisance," Sen. Pileggi said. "But the impact is amplified many times over during election seasons, when people can receive several dozen of political robo-calls over the course of just a week or two."

Sen. Pileggi is hopeful that his legislation, Senate Bill 820, can be signed into law in time to prevent political robo-calls this November.

Other bills introduced by Sen. Pileggi this year include:

  • Senate Bill 1, which would strengthen Pennsylvania's Right-to-Know Law and make it easier for citizens to access government records.
  • Senate Bill 729, the "State Salary Information Act," which would make salary information of state employees easily available to the public by requiring the Treasurer to post the salaries on the Internet.
  • Senate Bill 610, the "Burn Center Stabilization Act," which would help assure quality burn care for Pennsylvanians.
