Sen. Pileggi Reminds Motorists to Call Pothole Hotline to Report Problems.

HARRISBURG, PENNSYLVANIA –

Senator Dominic F. Pileggi would like to remind motorists that they can report potholes and other roadway concerns on state roads by calling the Department of Transportation's toll-free maintenance hotline at 1-800-FIX-ROAD (1-800-349-7623).

"Motorists who travel every day are often the first to encounter potholes and other major roadway problems," Pileggi said.  "I encourage those motorists who encounter these problems to call the Department of Transportation hotline."

The hotline is staffed between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.  Motorists calling on the weekend can leave a message on the voice-mail system.

Callers are asked to be as specific as possible in describing the location of a roadway concern. Helpful information includes the county, municipality, street name, and state route number, which can be found on small black and white signs posted along state highways.  Callers should also provide a description of any familiar landmarks that would help PennDOT find the problem area.

The 1-800-FIX-ROAD number should not be used to report traffic accidents, disabled vehicles or other emergencies.  Motorists should continue to call 911 to report these types of emergencies.
